WINDOWS DESKTOP

Install Logbook.

A self-contained Windows x64 app. No separate .NET installation is needed.

  1. Download the Logbook ZIP from the Downloads page.
  2. Close Logbook, extract the full package into a writable folder and run FlightWire.Logbook.exe.
  3. Ensure Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is available for maps, SimBrief and PDF views.
  4. Import FlightWire recordings, watch a recording folder or add flights manually.

Set up FlightWire.

For Windows 10/11 and X-Plane 12, with XPPython3 4.7.0 or newer using Python 3.12.

  1. Install XPPython3 using the official XPPython3 installation guide.
  2. Download the public FlightWire ZIP from GitHub and follow its included installation instructions.
  3. Configure the services you use, including Hoppie for supported company communication.
  4. Check aircraft compatibility and complete the first-run setup before your flight.

Connect Companion.

Enable Companion in FlightWire, then pair your phone with its QR code. On iPhone, open Companion in Safari and add it to your Home Screen first.

Using the apps.

Can I use Logbook without FlightWire?

Yes. You can add flights manually and import existing supported recordings. FlightWire is needed to record new simulator data and provide live aircraft tracking.

What works without an internet connection?

Your local flight library, recorded data and attachments remain on your PC. Online maps, weather, traffic and SimBrief need an internet connection and available provider data.

How do I back up or move my logbook?

Use Cloud Backup or a Custom/NAS backup to include flight sources, screenshots and documents. Restore it in Logbook on the new PC and check your records before removing the originals. Database-only backups omit attachments.

Why is some replay or report information missing?

Reports and replay use captured data. Missing traffic, weather or events cannot be reconstructed.

Why is Companion not updating?

Check the connection test, internet access and COMPANION ON. Recording-only mode disables Companion. For live updates, arm away mode with the supported aircraft’s wing lights; opening FlightWire or changing radio frequencies can pause it.
